FALKNER - Late in games, every play is under pressure. The Falkner Eagles did not handle the pressure well and it cost them as the Thrasher Rebels plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning for the 11-8 come-from-behind win last Friday night.

The Eagles held an 8-7 lead with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Thrasher's Bryson Grimes knew his team's backs were against the wall so he purposefully got into a rundown situation knowing that if tagged the game would be over. But two Falkner errors on the rundown allowed Grimes to go from first base to home to tie the game and swing the momentum back to the Rebels' dugout.

Neither team found success at the plate in the eighth inning but in the top of the ninth, Grimes sparked the inning leading off with a hit-by-pitch. He advanced to second on a wild pitch just two pitches later where senior Easton Boren drove him in on a RBI double. Another hit-by-pitch and error loaded the bases for the Rebels. Junior Luke Boren laid down a perfect suicide bunt that scored two Rebels to seal the win.

Falkner's Salvador Duran lead the Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Cade Wilder and Christian Kennedy each had two hits apiece with Wilder driving in a team-high three RBI.

The two teams squared off again on Monday where the Rebels used their momentum from Game 1 of the series to propel them to a 12-1 win in five innings. The Eagles struck out 10 times and mustered just two hits in the loss.

With the sweep, Thrasher takes over the No. 3 seed in Div. 1-1A as Falkner drops to the No. 4 seed and will have to face Div. 2-1A winner Myrtle. Falkner travels to Myrtle for Game 1 this Friday and Game 2 will be held back at Falkner on Saturday. Game times have not been set as of our press deadline.
